Tailored Programmes
From a programme originally developed in conjunction with Anglo American in 2007, GMIRM is a world-class programme now available to other mining companies seeking something practical to help them realise their safety aspirations.
We tailor the design of our GMIRM intervention against the backdrop of changes going on in your company. Then we manage the implementation of four layers of education and training programmes to enhance understanding and capability of all employees in hazard & risk management.

Core Content for all courses
GMIRM course content include perceived ‘world class’ practice features and include specific risk management terminology, concepts and models:
- The terminology for Safety Risk Management is clearly defined and consistently presented at all levels, to establish a quality discussion at any level about hazards, unwanted events, risks and controls.
- Core content includes model of the risk management process which involves a deviation from previous risk management models in Standards due to the need to emphasise selected areas.
- A leading practice, ‘layered’ approach to applying risk assessment at a site level is also consistently communicated, discussed and analysed. This model is based on an industry benchmark study.
- Finally, the risk management process is explained and discussed as a maturity journey that involves both people and systems, with discussions and exercises to challenge and identify current status as well as build plans to improve.
These examples of the concepts and models used in the GMIRM programme, plus the information outlined below about the four levels, mean we have the ability to map an existing, award-winning programme against the terminology, process and procedural expectations and conceptual imagery already existing in a company. It also creates an opportunity to build on the company’s current risk management approach rather than introducing something that is perceived to be ‘yet another new initiative’.
