Manager Education
The Managers workshop aims to initiate a radical change in safety within operations and disciplines through improving a manager’s understanding and practice of Risk Management leading to better decisions affecting safety. Those this course is aimed at are:
- at Mine or Project level – General Managers, Mine Managers, section Managers, superintendant, Mine Captains, Plant supervisors, senior technical Staff, Safety Managers & practitioners
- within a Division or corporate Structure – technical and functional staff (e.g Rock Engineering, Ventilation, Safety, Human Resources, Finance & procurement)
- long term/high hazard contractor managers
The aims for the Manager are to:
- A deeper, more aligned understanding of concepts, terminology and methods
- Challenge traditional thinking about risk and safety
- Be able to determine the quality of their company’s risk management activities and systems
- A clear understanding of how this relate to overall industry, regulatory corporate risk management strategies
- Be able to scope a RA and apply tools for comparison with good practice approaches
- Some practical tools to improve their risk management and move forward on the safety maturity journey
- Understand the importance of making a personal commitment to and setting accountability for managing risk
- And to make better decisions about safety risks
